| WestClip WestClip is a tracking service that allows
you to monitor case law; legislative sources; national
and local newspapers; major wire services; general
business news; trade magazines and newsletters; and legal
journal and law review articles. WestClip will store your
query, run it automatically, and send you the results.
You can run your query daily or weekly, and have the
results delivered via e-mail or to a printer.
There are two ways that you can
access WestClip once you sign on to Westlaw:
- One way to set up the
WestClip service would be from your search
results. You would select a database and type
your query. Once you have your results list, you
would click "WestClip" at the top of
the page. The next screen, WestClip: Create
Entry, asks you to provide the name of your clip.
The database and query boxes will already be
populated from your search. The Delivery Settings
default to a "daily" Frequency, a
"notify at sign on" Destination, and a
"no end date" End Date. To change any
of these settings, click "Edit" on the
Delivery Settings Tab. You can change the
frequency to weekly, the destination to your e-mail
address or a printer, and you can select an end
date for the service.
- The other way to set up the
WestClip service is immediately after you sign on
to Westlaw. First, you would select "WestClip"
from the drop down menu at the top right side of
the screen that has the word "More" in
the box. When you are on the WestClip Overview
page, you can click on "Create Entry"
in the right hand corner across from the "Overview"
heading. You will then be on the same "Entry
Details" page as above, but you will need to
type in the database that you want to search as
well as the query, along with the other
information (clip name and delivery settings).
