History of Bills

The History of Bills, which is part of the Congressional Record Index in print, is a separate application on GPO Access. Entries include the bill number, title, summary, names of sponsors/cosponsors and a chronological list of actions on the bill. Each action references a Congressional Record page number and the date when the action was reported.

The History of Bills databases cover 1983 (volume 129) to present, are cumulative from the beginning of each congressional session, and the current year is updated daily (usually the day after the print Congressional Record). Documents are available as ASCII text files.
