Federal Register & Pre-1980 Volumes

Current electronic access to the Federal Register can be obtained through GPO Access, Lexis or Westlaw. GPO Access maintains the Federal Register from 1994 forward. Lexis and Westlaw have the Federal Register from July 1, 1980 to present day.

Until recently, there has not been an online source for the Federal Register prior to 1980. Now, Hein Online's Federal Register Library provides access to the Federal Register from 1936-1996. Hein Online also has the Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents 1965-2003.

Features are key word searching, browsable annual indexes and CFR lists of sections affected, or you can select the volume and enter a page number. To use this resource, you must have the username and password. Just click on "Federal Register Collection" at Hein Online's homepage and you will be asked to login.

DOL employees can contact the Law Library (202-693-6613) to obtain information about this resource.
